Minot City Councilman Paul Pitner has officially entered the race for mayor, announcing his candidacy Tuesday morning in a statement on his Facebook page. An alderman since 2018, Pitner pledged to “restore integrity to the office of the mayor” and called for a renewed focus on civic pride and accountability.

Pitner becomes the third sitting city council member to formally announce a mayoral run following the resignation of former Mayor Tom Ross earlier this month. He joins council President Mark Jantzer, Alderman Rob Fuller, and private citizen Josiah Roise. A special election is expected later this year and will likely be decided upon at the next city council meeting.
