Minot-MPD announced Tuesday morning the apprehension of a wanted man from Texas. Delino Deshields Nelson, 32, of Fort Worth, Texas, was arrested Monday afternoon at a hotel in northwest Minot, where officers located him following an unrelated call for service in the area, per the MPD Facebook page.

According to the Minot Police Department, officers were responding to a separate incident around 2:30 p.m. when they received information about Nelson's possible whereabouts. After confirming through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) that Nelson had a full extradition warrant out of Tarrant County, Texas, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, officers began investigating further.

The warrant stems from an incident in which Nelson is accused of shooting a woman with a firearm in Texas. Acting on the information they gathered, Minot officers located Nelson at a hotel in the city’s northwest area and took him into custody without incident.

Nelson was transported to the Ward County Jail, where he is being held pending extradition to Texas.
