ND Highway Patrol release

On Tuesday, October 24th, at approximately 8:00 pm, a ND Highway Patrol patrol vehicle was struck eastbound on I-94 near the tri-level in Fargo. The patrol car was a 2022 Ford Police Interceptor Utility.

The NDHP trooper was investigating a crash at this location. The trooper was parked partially into lane three (outside lane) with emergency lights flashing, providing traffic control for the disabled vehicle involved in the crash the trooper was investigating. The disabled vehicle came to rest partially in lane three during the crash and was completely disabled.

While the trooper was parked at this location, an eastbound 2009 Nissan Maxima approached and side swiped the NDHP patrol car, hitting the push bumper on the front of the patrol vehicle. The Nissan then fled the crash scene eastbound on I-94. The trooper was unable to pursue the Nissan, but the trooper obtained the license plate number from the Nissan.

The Fargo Police Department responded and located the Nissan at a residence in Fargo. The driver of the Nissan, Timothy Rosendahl, 69 YOA, Fargo, ND, was located at the residence and arrested for Leaving the Scene of a Crash and Driving Under the Influence, both misdemeanor offenses.

The trooper was uninjured in the crash. The female from the disabled vehicle was in the patrol car at the time of the crash. She was uninjured as well.

The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
