NARRATIVE: At approximately 0640am on McKenzie County Road 10 near 132nd Ave NW, the Kia Optima traveling westbound entered the eastbound lane. The eastbound Chevrolet Silverado swerved right to avoid the westbound Kia Optima. At the same time, the Kia Optima swerved right to get back in the westbound lane. The Chevrolet Silverado struck the Kia Optima head on. The Kia Optima entered the north ditch and rolled.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was wearing his seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. He was transported to a local medical facility. The driver of the Kia Optima was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
This crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol, names will be released pending next of kin notification.
