BISMARCK – The North Dakota State House failed to garner a 2/3rds vote to override Governor Doug Burgum’s veto of a bill that would require sexually obscene books to be inaccessible to minors.
Senate Bill 2360 sought to require sexually explicit material be kept away from children in tax funded areas and would have provided a class B misdemeanor to any employee of those agencies who willfully places that material where it is accessible to children.
The Senate narrowly overrode the governor’s veto of SB2360 on a 33-14 vote, needing 32 votes to override the veto. The House, needing 63 votes, failed to override on a 53-41 vote.
