Double Fatal in Ward County

What: Fatal Crash  

Where: Highway 2 near mile marker 115  

When: 4/3 @ approx. 11:44 pm Central Time  

Road Conditions: Scattered Ice  

Weather Conditions: Light Snow 

Crash Involvement: Single Vehicle Rollover  

Type of Crash: Single Vehicle Rollover 

Agencies Involved: NDHP, Ward County Sheriff’s Office, Mountrail County Sheriff's Office, Berthold Ambulance, Berthold Fire.  

Vehicle No. 1: 2012 Silver Chevrolet Silverado  

Driver No. 1: 34-year-old female, Williston, ND, Serious Injury. 

 Restraints: Seatbelt not in use  

Charges: Ongoing investigation  

Passenger No. 1: 12-year-old female, Williston, ND, Fatal Injury 

Restraints: Seatbelt not in use  

Passenger No. 2: 13-year-old female, Williston, ND, Fatal Injury 

Restraints: Seatbelt not in use  

NARRATIVE: On the above date and time, the Chevrolet Silverado was Westbound on Hwy 2, when the Driver lost control of vehicle due to ice on the roadway, entered the median, and overturned. The driver and both occupants were ejected as none of them were using seatbelts. 

One juvenile came to rest on the roadway, where she was subsequently struck by an empty truck tractor/semi-trailer. The other juvenile came to rest in the median. Both juveniles were pronounced deceased on scene. Driver was transported by EMS with serious injuries. The name of the driver will be released at a later time.  

This Crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
