BISMARCK – The North Dakota State Senate voted down a bill Wednesday, House Bill 1295, that would have removed the requirement to have front license plates on motor vehicles.
“A front license plate may not be aesthetically pleasing, but it serves a very valuable purpose,” said Sen. Dean Rummel, R-Dis. 37, Dickinson. “That purpose is helping members of the public and law enforcement identify potential vehicles involved in a crime.”
The House had passed the bill by a vote of 79 to 15. The bill failed in the Senate by a vote of 40 to 6.
