MAX—The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a McLean County Deputy was outside of his patrol vehicle assisting a motorist when another motorist lost control on the ice and rear ended his vehicle early Friday morning.

NDHP says the collision happened at 3 a.m. near mile marker 163 on Highway 83. Evan Jeglum, 30, Saint Paul, MN, was on his way to Crosby, ND. Road conditions were poor at the time due to freezing rain. Jeglum was attempting to move over for the McLean County emergency vehicle, which had its red and blue lights on, when he lost control of his vehicle and struck the McLean County Sheriff’s vehicle.

No one was injured in the crash. Jeglum was arrested for DUI.
