SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Minot State women's basketball team went into halftime tied 36-36 with Augustana but could not take control in the second half and fell 74-67 to the Vikings on the road Saturday in NSIC action.

The Beavers (7-11 overall, 3-9 NSIC) had three players score in double figures, led by Kate Head, who had 24 points and three steals. Kennedy Harris added 10 points off the bench and Natasha Elliott chipped in as well with 10 points and two steals.

Coach's Comments

"Another great effort against a really good team in our conference," Minot State head coach Mike Brandt said. "I'm excited about the way we grew up as a team this weekend! We are steadily improving and that’s exciting to me as a coach."

How It Happened

Minot State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 22-15 at the end of the first quarter.

Augustana kept adding to that lead, building a 31-23 advantage before Minot State went on an 8-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Vilborg Jonsdottir, to tie the game at 31. Neither team was able to gain an edge by halftime, as the two squads entered the break tied at 36-36. Minot State was strong from deep in the period, knocking down three three-point shots to account for nine of its 21 points.

Augustana proceeded to take over in the third quarter and the Beavers entered the fourth trailing 55-50. Minot State played well near the basket, scoring eight of its 14 points in the paint.

Minot State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 74-67.
