Amtrak Affected by Train Derailment

MINOT — Two Amtrak trains have been stopped in their tracks due to the BNSF freight train derailment that happened near Burlington.

Amtrak’s Public Relations Manager Jason Abrams said the Empire Builder Train 7/27, which departed Chicago on April 30 is canceled between Minot and Shelby, MT. The Empire Builder Train 8/28, which departed Seattle on April 30 is canceled between Shelby, MT and Minot.

"Passengers at Minot will have the option to be housed and re-accommodated or take Train 8/28 back to points of origination between Minot and Chicago," said Abrams. "No alternate transportation will be provided."
