MINOT — After two years of cancellations, the Minot Optimist Club's Father Daughter Dance is back!
Lezlie Beuchler, the chairperson of the event, said this will be the 7th year for the dance, with last year and the year before being cancelled due to COVID-19.
“People look forward to it every year,” said Buechler. “We’re excited.”
Funds from the event go to the Optimist Club, which supports other non-profits and charities.
“We do several projects throughout the years,” said Beuchler, explaining the club. “In recent years, we’ve helped fund and build the playground at the Domestic Violence Crisis Center.”
Beuchler said this year, proceeds from the dance will finish the Big Give Campaign to help remodel Souris Valley Animal Shelter. The club pledged $50,000 to the project, and the dance is projected to pay for half of that.
“[The dance] is open to anybody,” Beuchler explained. “We have a lot of dads, grandfathers, brothers, uncles who will come. I would say the general range is that 3 to 12-year-old [daughter]."
The dance is $35 per person, and tickets are available until Sunday night, unless they sell out prior to that time.
“That gives you a sit-down meal, and we also have a Hint of Whimsey, a photographer in town, that will be doing professional photos, and they're generous to donate all their proceeds back to our club as well,” said Beuchler. “So yeah, we have kind of a sit down, fun, formal meal, and then once the meal’s been served, we walk across to the ballroom where we have a DJ, and basically have a dance party for two hours.”
The event will be at the Grand Hotel on Friday, May 6, with registration beginning at 5:15 p.m. with dinner at 6:00 p.m.
