BISMARCK — Brandon Prichard of Bismarck announced that he is seeking the Republican nomination for State House in District 8.
Prichard is a fifth generation North Dakotan who was born and raised in Bismarck. “I’m very excited to jump in the race to represent the community I’ve known my whole life,” said Prichard.
Prichard studied history, philosophy, political science, and religious studies at the University of Minnesota and is continuing his education at the University of Minnesota’s Law School and School of Public Policy on a part time and virtual basis. Prichard has also worked in inner-city public schools in Minneapolis for nearly three years. Currently, he works as a legal assistant at Eckland & Blando LLP in Minneapolis and as a technical specialist for BisManOnline in Bismarck.
“I’m proud to be unequivocally pro-life, pro-liberty, and pro-gun rights,” said Prichard. “It’s important we return to pre-Covid normalcy. This includes opposing unjust restrictions on businesses, schools and families. We must protect individual choice in health care and safety decisions, including masking and vaccines.”
Prichard was a founding member and state chair of the ND High School Republicans in 2017. He oversaw and coordinated 300 students who were passionate about conservative principles and community engagement. Prichard also represented the state of North Dakota in the United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) where he engaged in discussions with experts and public servants on emerging threats, the legislative process, and effective policymaking.
“My experience in public policy has given me a unique perspective on the challenges we face,” said Prichard. “My overall fiscal philosophy is to manage our budget to work for all of the people of North Dakota by adequately investing in core services and local infrastructure, while lowering the tax burden for homeowners. We must prioritize reducing regulatory burdens on innovation and entrepreneurship, instead of funding pet-projects and cronyism with state funds.”
In 2018, Prichard worked on Kelly Armstrong’s successful congressional campaign in Bismarck helping the Armstrong team fundraise, advertise, and plan events. During his undergraduate education, Prichard worked in Kevin Cramer’s Bismarck Office on case work and constituent outreach. Today, Prichard is an active member in the ND Young Republicans and a member of the sponsoring committee for the term limits petition.
