WILLISTON – Williston Fire Department (WFD) was dispatched to a structure fire at an industrial complex in northwest Williston on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at around 11:30 a.m.
Riverside Welding, Inc. reported the fire started inside its facility near the boiler room, and that smoke and fire were present. All individuals inside Riverside Welding, Inc. were able to evacuate without injury.
WFD established command upon arrival and responded with an offensive fire attack initially.
When the building began showing signs of collapse, all firefighters were evacuated, and WFD switched to defensive fire operations.
Mutual aid was requested from Williams County/Williston Emergency Management, Williston Rural Fire Department (WRFD), and City of Williston Public Works. City of Williston Police Department responded to assist with traffic flow around the area.
WRFD responded with a command unit, two engines, and personnel. Public Works responded with a sand truck and personnel to help control water flow and ice formation. WFD responded with two aerial apparatuses, two engines, Heavy Rescue, Engine Tender 15, HAZMAT 1, and an ambulance.
As of 1:15 p.m. the fire was considered contained and WFD units remained on scene to extinguish residual fire and perform scene cleanup. Public Works also assisted with cleanup.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
