WATFORD CITY—The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a sheriff's deputy suffered injuries in a crash early Tuesday morning near Watford City.
According to the NDHP, McKenzie County Deputy Ray Beebe, 36, was traveling eastbound on Highway 23 shortly after 6 a.m. when he attempted to make a U-turn. However, he failed to notice there were two other vehicles. Both vehicles took evasive action to avoid the deputy, but Troy Odonnell, 40, Grand Forks, ended up colliding with the deputy.
Beebe suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the McKenzie County Hospital in Watford City. Odonnell was not injured.
Both lanes of traffic on Hwy 23 were shut down for approximately 2 hours to allow damaged vehicles to be removed. This crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
