Morton County Sheriff’s Deputies and North Dakota Highway Patrol Troopers were called to investigate a semi-truck that ran off the road on I-94 near milepost 145 shortly before 5:30 p.m. Dec. 15.

Once on the scene, law enforcement found the driver of the truck behind the wheel, unresponsive with no pulse. Emergency crews performed CPR and life saving measures, but the driver, Jerry Mayer, 62, of Dickinson was later pronounced dead at scene.

NDHP says no foul play appears to be involved. Conditions at the time were windy with blowing and drifting snow. However, it is not clear if a medical emergency caused the accident.

The incident remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
