This is Ag Issues with Neil Roberts.

Neil Roberts:
Welcome to another edition of Ag Issues. Our guest this week is NDSU, cropping system specialist Leo Bartolon from the North Central Research Extension Center and Leo Wheat Fungicides. Seed treatment is important right now, especially since planting dates have been delayed many fields are still wet across the region. Give us some advice.

Leo Bartolon:
Yes, wheat planting is expected to increase in the weeks to come, since we are only 5% planted compared to 40% last year. So whichever way to resume planting the day to come, fungicides. Seed treatment is very important to manage seed borne diseases or seedling blights and early season root drug seed treatments for managing these seed borne diseases must include several mode of action. So several mode of actions. They will be very effective for fungicide control. All the information to select the fungicide that you can find at in DSU Fast and Disease Guide, or even at the end DSU Extension Fungicide or Pest Management Application.

Neil Roberts:
Okay. Good stuff for you and we'll discuss how to select fungicides when we come back.

Neil Roberts:
Talking wheat fungicide, c treatment today. On Ag issues with Leo Bartolon and Leo. How do you go about selecting a fungicide?

Leo Bartolon:
Yeah, just select a fungicide for wheat, see treatment, just make sure they have more than one mode of action to help manage or suppress disease. This is very, very important. If in the same field we have multiple root rot pathogens like video in Fusarium. So if we use fungicide with multiple mode of action, we'll help to control video in a colon where soil persists like we have and also control fusarium when we have a wide range of temperatures and soil moisture.

Neil Roberts:
All right. Good stuff, Leo. Thanks for that. That concludes this edition. if you missed one. Catch us on the website. Agissues.com until next time. I'm Neil Roberts.
