The Dakotan team was on the ground this afternoon at the Minot Auditorium collecting exit data. From about 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., we surveyed 178 voters as they exited the polls, asking them to voluntarily and anonymously share who they voted for in the mayoral race. While this is not a scientific poll, the responses offer a useful snapshot of midday voter preferences among those willing to participate during that two hour window.

With total voter turnout now likely to exceed 4,000 by the end of the day, this survey represents a small but useful window into early trends.

The data is as follows:
Jantzer: 42.1%
Pitner: 28.1%
Fuller: 21.9%
Roise: 6.7%
Other/Write in: 1.1%

With Polls open until 7pm, this early window offers some momentum clues, but in a race this close, it’s still very much anyone’s game.
