Minot- City council met tonight for their final meeting of March, led by Mayor Tom Ross, who "was the subject of a personnel investigation" as reported by venerated local media blogger Rob Port. It is something that follows multiple investigations into the Minot Police Department and is something that we at The Dakotan will be looking into. The council meeting however, was dominated by finance presentations, consent item discussion, as well as a Pledge of Allegiance that was led by local Girl Scouts.

The meeting proceeded normally with mayoral and city managers reports before moving to a Finance presentation by city Finance Director David Lakefied detailing Minot's varying revenue streams and how they may change following the legislative cycle. This was followed briefly by Planning Commission and Renaissance Zone approvals before transitioning to Consent items. A number of items were pulled and we will detail them in full this week in a future article and on the podcast.

This led to the only agenda item which was the unanimous approval of the 16th ST SW reconstruction bid totaling about $11.2 million to Park Construction co. with the project set to begin later this year. With no personal appearances, the meeting ended with an open discussion on a potential new subdivision development. It would be located near Ramstead Middle School, potentially opening up 85 new homes but at the cost of some $13 million. With council seeming to be interested in having the city foot much, if any, of that bill, they did discuss some potential workarounds for the city
