Where: US Highway 2, near mile marker 313; approximately 1 mile east of Petersburg, ND

Weather Conditions: Clear, dark
Type of Crash: Single vehicle, CMV
Agencies Involved: North Dakota Highway Patrol, Petersburg Fire Department, and Michigan
Area Ambulance Service
Vehicle No. 1: 2016 Peterbilt 579 and 2020 Great Dane reefer trailer
Driver No. 1: Male; 47 years old; Grand Forks, ND; serious injuries
Restraints: Seatbelted and no airbag deployment
NARRATIVE: The truck-tractor semi-trailer combination was westbound on US Highway 2, near the
Petersburg overhead. The driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road, the combination
entered the median, tipped on its left side, and came to rest in the median. The cargo exited
the front of the semi-trailer and entered the cab of the truck-tractor. The driver was
transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
