A disorderly male was arrested Monday evening in SW Minot

On March 18, 2024, at approximately 5:36 p.m., officers were dispatched to a
residence in southwest Minot for reports of a disorderly male breaking the
windows of a house.
Once officers arrived on the scene, they discovered the homeowner, an 81-year
old male, had sustained a forearm laceration during the encounter with the
suspect. Officers located and detained a suspect, Branton T. Jones, 38, of Minot.
The homeowner indicated that the suspect demanded the keys to his vehicle
while he was holding a golf club but denied Jones the keys. Jones proceeded to
shove the victim down the stairs, which caused a laceration to his forearm.
Jones is charged with Robbery (Class B Felony) and Criminal Mischief (A
Misdemeanor).
Jones is being held at the Ward County Jail.
The victim was treated for minor injuries.
The investigation has not yet determined the exact relationship between the
Jones and homeowner. The suspect may have been an acquaintance of the
victim’s family.
