JAMESTOWN – Back in action in their home state, yet still on the road, the No. 2 Minot State men’s hockey team came up short, 4-1, in a top-5 battle at No. 4-ranked Jamestown on Monday night.
The Beavers (12-4-0 overall) got a goal from team captain Carter Barley with 5 minutes, 46 seconds gone in the second period, but that was all Minot State could muster. Colby Joseph and Walker Jerome assisted on the goal.
Barley’s goal made it a 3-1 contest as the host Jimmies netted two in the first period, added an early second-period goal, then tacked on an insurance goal with 2:55 left in the middle period for the win.
Jake Anthony finished with 24 saves on the day for the Beavers who now return home to host five in a row at the Maysa Arena, starting with Grand Canyon this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. each night.
