What: Two Vehicle Fatality Crash  

Where: Highway 6 MM 59, 6 miles south of Mandan  

When: 03/16/2023 at 9:28 CT  

Road Conditions: Snow and Ice Covered  

Weather Conditions: Blowing Snow  

Type of Crash: Head on collision  

Agencies Involved: NDHP, Morton County Sheriff’s Department, Mandan Rural Fire, Metro Ambulance  

Vehicle No. 1: 2021 Ford Expedition  

Driver No. 1: 46-year-old Female, Bentley, ND, Serious Injuries

Restraints: Seatbelt in use 

 Charges: Under Investigation  

Vehicle No. 2: 2017 Honda CRV  

Driver No. 2: 69-year-old Female, Bismarck, ND, Fatal Injuries

Restraints: Unknown  

NARRATIVE: The Ford was traveling northbound on Highway 6 from Bentley to Bismarck. The Honda was traveling southbound from Bismarck to St. Anthony. The Ford crossed into the southbound lane and collided head on with the Honda. Both occupants were transported to Sanford Hospital by Metro Ambulance where the driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased.  

The roadway was snow and ice covered at the time of the crash. The names will be released upon notification of the next of kin. This crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
