MINOT – Riding a seven-game unbeaten streak and climbing to No. 2 in the current NSIC standings, the Minot State soccer team garnered recognition for its efforts this season earning a spot in the United Soccer Coaches Central Region poll this week.
The Beavers, who are 5-2-4 overall and 5-1-2 in NSIC play, landed at No. 10 in the current USC Central Region poll released today, the first time Minot State has been ranked this season.
The Beavers have won three-in-a-row, and five of their past seven games, including a 3-0 shutout at Minnesota State Moorhead on Sunday.
Minot State is back in action this coming weekend at home, hosting Augustana at First Western Bank Field at Herb Parker Stadium on Friday at 5 p.m., then hosting Wayne State on Sunday at noon.
Central Missouri (11-0-1) is No. 1 in this week’s poll, followed by Minnesota State, Mankato (8-1-2), which leads the NSIC.
Central Oklahoma is third (8-1-3), then Fort Hays State (Kan.) (8-0-4), Washburn (Kan.) (8-2-2), Bemidji State (5-2-4), Northwest Missouri State (6-4-2), Mary (7-1-3), and Northern State (5-3-3).
The Beavers beat Northern State, 2-1, last Friday.
