MINOT — The City of Minot will host a series of public workshops as part of an effort to update its 2040 Comprehensive Plan.

The three meetings will address five identified areas of growth in Minot: Downtown and warehouse district area, flood impacted neighborhoods, southwest growth area, northwest growth area, and the extraterritorial areas. All Minot residents are welcome to attend, including residents in the two-mile area of city zoning jurisdiction outside Minot city limits.

The first round of Area Planning Public Workshops has been scheduled:

Southwest & Extraterritorial Growth Areas

Topics of discussion will include land use and development, transportation, housing, economic development, and related issues.

“It’s important to the City that we understand the challenges, opportunities, and needs of these specific areas from those who live and work there every day,” said John Van Dyke, principal planner for the City of Minot. “Our goal is to understand the community as it exists today and plan proactively for what Minot should be in 2040. We need public input to ensure we have a common vision for 2040.”

The 2040 Comprehensive Plan will establish goals, objectives, and policies to guide growth and development in and around Minot over the next two decades. The update provides an opportunity to reassess community needs and opportunities and shape the future of Minot.
