WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senators John Hoeven (R-N.D.) and Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) today joined Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) in urging President Joe Biden to continue utilizing liquid fuel vehicles in the federal fleet, including U.S. Postal Service (USPS) vehicles. In the letter, the senators warn the Biden administration against pressuring the USPS and other government agencies to shift their fleets to all electric vehicles (EVs), as such a decision would both ignore costs to taxpayers as well as national security concerns created by making the U.S. further reliant on China.
“We urge you to stop pressuring USPS and other federal government agencies to adopt an all-EV mandate and, instead, support an all of-the-above approach that takes advantage of the many benefits of U.S. produced liquid fuels,” the lawmakers wrote.
In addition to Hoeven and Grassley, today’s letter was signed by Senators John Cornyn (R-Texas), Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) and Steve Daines (R-Mont.).
