Fatal Crash

CARTWRIGHT—The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a man died in a collision with a semi on Friday.

According to the NDHP, a Freightliner truck towing a tanker loaded with 165 barrels of salt water was traveling west on McKenzie County Road 16 at around noon about 6 miles north of Cartwright, ND. A Volvo truck towing an empty side-dump trailer was northbound on 154th Ave NW. The 60-year-old driver of the Volvo failed to stop at a stop sign, striking the left side of the Freightliner.

The man was transported to the hospital in Sidney, MT where he died of his injuries. The 50-year-old driver of the Freightliner was not injured.

No hazardous materials were released.

This crash is under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
