WAHPETON — The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a Richland County Patrol vehicle was struck on Interstate 29 about 18 miles southwest of Wahpeton on Tuesday.

According to the NDHP, a Richland County Deputy was conducting a traffic stop around 10:20 p.m. when a pickup traveling southbound failed to move over and struck the patrol vehicle.

A total of three vehicles were involved. The deputy had to be extricated from her patrol car and suffered a broken arm in the incident.

I-29 was shut down for a short period of time until vehicles could be moved, and the deputy was transported to Fargo for medical treatment.

The incident remains under investigation.
