BISMARCK-- The Minot State Beavers struggled on Wednesday, falling to the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles 7-3 in the opening round of the NSIC Tournament despite the efforts of junior Gunnar Kozlowitz, who went 1-for-4 with a home run and an RBI.
Senior Bryant Bagshaw (6-3) started and took the loss on the mound for Minot State (29-18 overall). Sophomore Jonah Prokott was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out three.
Offensively, the Beavers were paced by Kozlowitz, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Senior Matt Malone put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with a double. Junior Javier Gutierrez also contributed for Minot State, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
