City of Minot release

The City of Minot sanitation department has completed the first collection of
recyclables since the program's inauguration.
On July 21st, we calculated the numbers from the first week of the recycling
program. Our sanitation department collected 37.17 tons of recyclable materials in
the first week. These materials are heading to the Demcon Industries, LLC sorting
facility in Shakopee, Minnesota.
Twelve thousand three hundred homeowners have received their recycling bins, and
as of July 21st, the current number of opt-outs is 1,561, 12.7% of the program.
Our sanitation department is inputting all opt-out customers into the billing
database to ensure they are removed from the program; upon completing that
process, they will begin retrieving the opt-out bins. The process could take up to
two to three weeks. The recycling bins do not need to remain on the street by the
curb; place them by the house/garage, and we will retrieve them.
Recycling and garbage bins can be swapped out for a different size if requested.
That process will not be completed until the collection of opt-out bins is complete.
The $2.50 monthly billing will occur in October 2023 following the free trial period.
