**Update, Jan. 20, 2022, John Gustafson, 74, Rugby, died as a result of his injuries.**
NIAGARA—The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a man and a woman were injured a single vehicle accident Wednesday morning.
According the the NDHP, the 74-year-old driver from Rugby was traveling on Highway 2 around 9 a.m. when he lost control of the Ford Expedition on the ice and frost. The vehicle slid off the road into the ditch and overturned.
The man suffered serious injuries, and the 89-year-old passenger, also from Rugby, suffered minor injuries. Both were transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
