The Dakotan:
And now it's time for Spring Fever with the Twins with Neil Roberts from Fort Myers, Florida, who.

Neil Roberts:
Signed a seven year $100 billion contract to keep him in the Minnesota Twins uniform through 2028. Center fielder Byron Buxton joins us. And Byron, Twins fans are relieved. Are you as well?

Byron Buxton:
Yeah, you know, obviously it's been my whole career thus far. It means a lot and my family, you know, being side by side with me throughout my career and comfortability and not a love we have for the city. All we have for the fans and this organization you know, it's just a place that we feel comfortable and love a lot.

Byron Buxton:
And we know things are going to come good here. And it's just one of those things where it's unfinished business for me and letting you know, obviously we know how to do this. It hasn't been the way I wanted it to be with injuries. But you know that stuck with me.

Neil Roberts:
I can read my own handwriting, let alone you reading it. But that was my question. Loyalty. But it works both ways. Right? And in turn, obviously, your upside is off the charts and who knows what? And loyalty for you to come back and say, hey, I'll sign a deal with some incentives. So it works both ways. And all Twins fans are happy that they got it done.

Byron Buxton:
Oh, for sure. I'm happy. You know, my family's happy. I'm happy. I got to say, there's nowhere else I'd rather be, you know, just putting on the twins uniform for seven years, being able to do it for seven more. As you know, it's a lot of happiness.

Neil Roberts:
Some people talk about another Twins icon when we come back.

The Dakotan:
You're listening to Spring Fever Baseball on the Minnesota Twins with New Roberts on the Dakotan Network.

Neil Roberts:
With Byron Buxton and Byron. Understand that the Twins, great Torii Hunter, called you shortly after. At least I read that when you got the deal and shared some advice with you. Can you share any of that with Twins fans?

Byron Buxton:
I said just keep being myself, you know, and I deserve it. You know, just in the interim, that's what he does. And not many people got that on their shoulder, you know, to be able to call somebody like that and get advice. And, you know, he's been there and done that. He played here. He's a center fielder here. He's a Hall of Famer here. And it's just big footsteps.

Neil Roberts:
Well, thanks very much for your time and hear that. I'll put a wrap on this report. So next time, I'm Neil Roberts.

The Dakotan:
You you're listening to the Dakotan Network. Real, Honest, Local news.
