The Dakotan:
This is outdoor issues with Neil Roberts and North Dakota Game and Fish outreach biologist Greg Gullickson.

Neil Roberts:
It's another big year at the North Dakota State Fair for the State Gaming Fish Department. And Greg recording this on Tuesday the 26th so yeah halfway through it. So far so good, right?

Greg Gullickson:
Yeah, so far so good. It's been a great. North Dakota State Fair and thanks to the state for staff for allowing us to have this little oasis right smack dab in the middle of the fairgrounds. There's a lot of great things to do. The gaming fish department is here all nine days of the fair. We have almost a two acre area that has a lot of different things to see and do, whether it be fishing, visiting with gaming fish staff at our information booth, fir taker exhibit with lots of different furs and fur taking equipment, a mini hunter education course with the pellet gun range the archery range and probably the highlight it would be the fishing area with live fish in the aquariums on display, a bunch of different fish, mounds of fish that we have in our North Dakota waters. A little bit of casting practice there and then also fishing out on the pond.

Neil Roberts:
Alright. And we'll have more on that fishing when we come back.

Neil Roberts:
Talking the North Dakota State Fair today on outdoor issues. And great, you mentioned the fishing pond. I understand they're biting.

Greg Gullickson:
Yeah, they certainly are. If you look at the game in Fish State Fair Pond, it's basically just a glorified cattle dugout. But, you know, we do make it into a fishery each and every year. Lots of great species that are in there. Bluegill, trout, perch, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass. And we've got a special treat in there this year. We have one largemouth bass that's £6, and we're on day four and it is yet to be cut. So that's kind of the challenge. I look forward to hearing one of those anglers catch it, and I'm pretty sure if a hook lines up in that fish, you'll be able to hear it all the way across the fairgrounds.

Neil Roberts:
Hey, well, that concludes this edition. Until next time. I'm Neil Roberts.
