This is Ag Issues with Neil Roberts.

Neil Roberts:
Welcome to another edition of Ag Issues. Our guest this week is NDSU crop protection specialist T.J. Prochaska from the North Central Research Extension Center. And T.J., we're talking plant disease today. And what are your DSU extension scouts finding out?

TJ Prochaska:
Well, that's an interesting question over the last few weeks, our scouts, to be honest with you a little bit, they are not finding a lot of disease out in those fields. We are currently averaging about a hundred small green fields a week being evaluated. So that's a little bit of good news. With that being said, the weather conditions are primed right now for a little bit of disease development or scouting over the next few weeks is going to be key. One of the big topics might be bacterial leaf blight as we look over the next few weeks.

Neil Roberts:
All right. Good stuff, T.J.. And hey, we'll have more on plant disease when we come back.

Neil Roberts:
Talking plant disease today on Ag Issues of T.J. Prochaska. And T.J., you were talking bacterial leaf streak before the break. Tell us more.

TJ Prochaska:
That's correct. This is a disease issue that's been reported in evaluated on the eastern side of the state. However, it's really moves around with water, tail, wind, severe thunderstorms that allows the bacteria to move around and gain entry into the plant. Typically, there's not a lot of fungicides that can combat bacterial streak and other bacterial products. So finding some of those issues out in the field is something that's been common over the last few weeks. Other diseases could be possible looking over the next week or so. We've been warm and humid. Any moisture from dew overhanging in the early morning hours could complicate issues looking forward. So scouting will be key.

Neil Roberts:
All right. Good stuff, as always. Thanks, T.J.. And that will bring this report to a close if you missed one. Check us on the Website agissues.com. Until next time. I'm Neil Roberts.
