The Mother’s Day altercation at Minot’s Original Bar and Nightclub that resulted in the death of Greyson Sletto, 32, Willow City, occurred inside the facility.
According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in north-central district court, the fatal shots were fired by Travis McDermott, 40, Minot. McDermott admitted to an investigating Minot Police officer to shooting Sletto.
McDermott was being detained by other bar patrons when police arrived on scene about 1:45 a.m. He was taken into custody without incident. McDermott made his initial appearance before Judge Stacy Louser on Monday, May 15 where his bond was set at $500,000. He is being held in the Ward County Jail on charges of Manslaughter-Adult victim-With a dangerous weapon, a B felony, and Reckless Endangerment-Extreme Indifference-Dangerous Weapon, a C felony.
According to the affidavit, Sletto and McDermott exchanged words before Sletto pushed McDermott to the ground. While on the ground McDermott fired the fatal shots.
Carrying a firearm in an establishment set aside for the retail sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited by North Dakota Century Code. Anyone knowingly doing so is guilty of an infraction. Discharging a firearm in the city limits is a class B misdemeanor.
