MINOT – This week the mayor of Minot honored the Minot Public Library director at her last City Council meeting as the director of the library.

Mayor Tom Ross handed Janet Anderson a mayor’s coin at Monday’s City Council meeting. Anderson is resigning as director of the Minot Public Library after eight years of service.

“I am going to be the medical librarian,” Anderson told The Dakotan. “Technically it’s through the University of North Dakota’s school of medicine. It’s at the Trinity Library.”

Anderson has been with the Minot Public Library for 10 years and the director for eight.

“It included a lot of administrative stuff and staffing and putting out fires,” Anderson laughed. “Hiring, posting programs, doing community outreach.”

Anderson said moving on to something new is good but scary.

“I got into librarianship because I enjoy helping people and I enjoy the research side of it,” said Anderson. “In my current position I don’t do that very much, so I’m really looking forward to getting back into the research. That’s definitely my thing.”
