Bill Heads to Senate

BISMARCK – A bill passed the North Dakota State House Thursday that defines human rights as superior to non-human rights.

House Bill 1361 states an individual's rights are superior to environmental elements, artificial intelligence, animals, inanimate objects, corporations, or government entities.

Supporters stated the purpose of the bill is for clarification, citing instances where non-humans such as bodies of water have been granted personhood status.

The bill passed by a vote of 86 to 7 and will be sent to the Senate for consideration
