What: Fatality  

Where: Highway 2 near mile marker 37, approximately 12 miles north of Williston, ND.  

When: January 18, 2023, at approximately 0625 AM CST  

Road Conditions: wet  

Weather Conditions: cloudy  

Crash Involvement: Vehicle vs Vehicle  

Type of Crash: Rear end  

Agencies Involved: North Dakota Highway Patrol, Williams County Sheriff’s Office, Williston Rural Fire and Ambulance, and Epping Fire department. 

Vehicle No. 1: 2014 Ford F-350  

Driver No. 1: Brendon Molloy, 20 year old male, Wildrose, ND – Fatality 

Restraints: No seatbelt in use  

Vehicle No. 2: 2011 Peterbilt Truck  

Driver No. 2: Enrique Santiesteban, 61 year old male, Watford City, ND - uninjured  

Restraints: Seatbelt in use  

Passenger No. 1: Juan Buenrostro Macia, 42 year old male, Maricopa, AZ - Uninjured  

Restraints: Seatbelt in use  

NARRATIVE: The Ford was traveling eastbound on Highway 2. The Peterbilt was traveling in the eastbound driving lane with its hazard lights illuminated slowing down to make a turn at an upcoming intersection. The Ford struck the rear of the trailer being pulled by the Peterbilt. The driver of the Ford sustained serious injuries and was taken by Ambulance to CHI St. Alexius in Williston where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver and passenger of the Peterbilt were uninjured.  

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
