SUMMARY OF CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING INCIDENT: Update 12/31/2022
After providing the family time to make notifications, the Minot Police Department is releasing the name of yesterdays homicide victim. The victim is 36-year-old Kenny C. Javar of Minot.
Initial News Release: The Minot Police Department responded to a report of gunshots in the parking lot of the Lamplighter Lounge at approximately 1:40 a.m. on 12/30/22. On arrival officers discovered a 36-year-old male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers determined that bar patrons witnessed the incident. During the incident one patron disarmed the suspect and was assisted by another in detaining him until police arrived.
Justin McDermott, 34 years old of Minot, was charged with murder. He is being held at the Ward Co. jail. Victim information will be released after the family has had an opportunity to make all necessary notifications
