Beavers men roll to NSIC win at home

Minot State 82, Northern State 62 

MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State men's basketball team hit 12-of-26 attempts from beyond the arc, shooting 46.2 percent from deep in an 82-62 win against the Northern State Wolves at home Saturday in NSIC action.  

 
The Beavers (4-3 overall, 1-2 NSIC) had four players score in double figures, led by Michael Jok who had 15 points, five assists, and three steals. Cam'ron Dunfee tacked on 15 points and six rebounds and Jalen Cook helped out with 13 points off of the bench.  

 
Minot State utilized excellent ball movement in Saturday's game, piling up 15 assists on 29 made field goals. Jok's five assists led the distribution list for the Beavers.  

Minot State's defense held Northern State to only 34.4 percent shooting from the field, including 21.9 percent from beyond the arc.  

 
Coach's Comments 
"We started off with two on the road, didn't feel like we played our best in either of those games, but tonight we came out with great energy overall," Minot State coach Matt Murken said. "As soon as guys would sub in they had an immediate impact on the game. 
 
"We were really active defensively, more crisp ball-movement on offense; a lot of those things we feel like when we do those things we're good, and we did most of those things tonight." 
 
How It Happened  

After falling behind 6-0, Minot State went on an 8-0 run with 17:40 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Cook, to take an 8-6 lead. The Beavers then added five points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 33-26 advantage. Minot State relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down six shots to account for 18 of its 33 points.  

 
Following intermission, Minot State kept widening that lead, expanding it to 76-62 before going on a 6-0 run to grow the lead to 82-62 with 52 seconds to go in the contest. Minot State made the most of six offensive rebounds to tack on nine second-chance points out of 49 total in the period.
