Ward County Sets Up Angel Tree for Employees

MINOT – There are many ideas on what to put under the Christmas tree, and one local tree is taking items that will be given to charity.

Kerrianne Boetcher, Ward County library administrator, was inspired last year to set up an Angel Tree, and decided to do it again this year.

“In the past in the library, instead of giving each other gifts we picked an organization and did donations,” explained Boetcher. “Last year I asked department heads to see if they’d be interested as well. We went to the county commissioners and asked permission since they are in charge of the building.”

Both years items given to the tree go to Northern Plains Children’s Advocacy Center.

“We just emailed them, asked for some things that they’d like, and we just put it up on the tree, and it’s all voluntary for employees if they want to do it,” said Boetcher.

Boetcher wrote on paper ornaments the items that NPCAC needs, and any Ward County employee can take one, buy what the ornament says, and bring the item to the library.

“They asked for books for ages 0-18, they asked for snacks or juice that are individually wrapped, gift cards for McDonald’s or Cenex, dolls to give to the kids,” Boetcher explained.

Boetcher is asking employees to get the items to the library by December 21, so the items can be delivered to NPCAC by Christmas.

Boetcher said last year NPCAC received everything it asked for, and she believes this year will be the same.
