MINOT – The Minot State Athletic Department, along with Beaver head men’s and women’s basketball coaches Matt Murken and Mike Brandt, are pleased to announce a series of special events coming this winter at the MSU Dome: The Minot State/High School Crossover Series.

On Saturdays, December 10, January 7, and January 21, the MSU Dome will be rocking with action on the hardwood as the Beavers will host men’s and women’s games and will host local area high school boys and girls’ games, as well.

These special events tip off on Saturday, December 10, with the Velva High School boys basketball team being the special guest home team at the MSU Dome as Velva hosts Des-Lacs-Burlington High School at approximately 7:45 p.m.

“I think it’s going to be great opportunity for our kids,” Velva co-athletic director Larry Sandy said. “They’ll get the opportunity to get on the floor and at the same time be able to watch a college level basketball game.

“I’m looking forward to watching my son play on the big floor.”

Velva’s game will follow Minot State’s men’s and women’s NSIC doubleheader against visiting St. Cloud State, with the collegiate games starting at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.

Along with being an opportunity to play on the “big floor” at the MSU Dome, Sandy adds that the Crossover Series creates added excitement for the high school programs and their community.

The special Crossover Series continues after the new year on January 7 with the Our Redeemer Christian School boys and girls teams each being the special guest home team alongside the Beavers. The Our Redeemer girls will play Kenmare at 12:30 p.m. before the MSU women’s game against visiting Southwest Minnesota State, which is scheduled to tip-off at 3:30 pm.

The Minot State men will play the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m., then the day wraps up with the Our Redeemer Christian boys playing the Kenmare Honkers at 7:45 p.m., following the MSU men’s game.

The special three-date Crossover Series wraps up on January 21 with the Turtle Lake-Mercer High School girls team as the final special guest home team as they host the Surrey Mustangs at 7:45 p.m. at the MSU Dome. The Turtle Lake-Mercer girls game will follow the Minot State men’s and women’s games against Upper Iowa on Saturday, with the Beaver games tipping off at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.
