MINOT — Darrik Trudell has withdrawn as a candidate for Minot’s City Council. Prior to announcing his candidacy, Trudell sought and received the necessary approval from his employer’s Ethics Division. However, upon further review, the Ethics Division has withdrew that approval due to a potential conflict of interest with his current position as a Special Agent with the Department of Homeland Security.
“It is unfortunate that someone with Darrik’s leadership and experience isn’t able to serve our community as a city alderman at this time,” shared campaign chair Dean Frantsvog. “Darrik serves our country and gives so much back to our community. He brings new ideas and understands how to listen, be effective in getting people involved and working towards what is best for moving Minot forward. I know he would have done an excellent job serving as your Alderman.”
Trudell has spent his career in public service. After graduating from Minot State University with a degree in social work he started his career in law enforcement, working for the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation as a Parole and Probation Officer. From there he was hired as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service (USSS) before joining Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
Darrik and his wife Betsy have four kids, Reagan, Grant, Harrison, and Eisenhower. The Trudell family would like to thank all their family, friends, and the community for their support.
