For ten days in April, All Seasons Arena in Minot trades in ice for dirt. The dust, the mud, the broncs, and the bulls show up April 1-10, bringing action-packed rodeos and performance horse events including: equine clinics, team roping and the fastest horses in the region attending the ‘High on Corona Barrel Race Chute-out.’

“The atmosphere is just plain fun. The community effort and the contestants that participated and travel from all over the state made this event electric last year. It was such a good turnout, there were no questions asked when agreeing to make it an annual event” explained Connie Buck, High on Corona Chute-out Barrel Racing Producer.

Rodeo Minot was created during COVID cancellations. “We saw an opportunity to have a spring rodeo event at the All Seasons Arena and had the support of a great crew and community; that’s how Rodeo Minot came to be. We had no expectations last year. People of all sorts were tired of the lockdown and ready to get out. With those ingredients and excellent community sponsors and support, Rodeo Minot was born into an annual spring occasion,” explained Jason Jensen, Rodeo Minot Crew Member.

The North Dakota Rodeo Association rodeo will kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 1 and continues on April 2, with an Open Team Roping and Breakaway Roping on Sunday, April 3. A variety of performance horse clinics and clinicians will be present during the week, a Roughrider Association rodeo is on the books April 9-10 and the ‘High On Corona Open Barrel Race Chute-out’ on April 9.

Western vendors and boutiques are part of the event, as well as a surprise Grand Entry Experience for both rodeo weekends.

“The part that made this event successful and able to take off as annual event is the hard work and effort of a team including Shane Gunderson, Brandee Moore, Cauy Gunderson, Brent Schaff, Olivia Grave, Jarod & Amy Seifert, Jennifer Jensen, Jason & Amy Behm. The support and sponsors that our community brings is amazing. Schafer Vet Service, Pro Earth Animal Health, Westlie Motor Co, Spectrum Industry Rentals, Rainbow Photo Labs, Schatz Crossroads Truckstop, RTR Oilfield Services, Bootleggerz Bar, Integrity Trailers, Korral Supply, Dig It Up Backhoe Service and the contestants were all part of 1,316 boxes of popcorn consumed and 2,700 live viewers in 2021 attendance. Numbers this year are expected to be even bigger” Jensen added.

Jim Hystad, J-H Timed Event Stock Contractor said, “There is so much interest already that it is sure to be another two weekends of great rodeo entertainment.”
