MINOT — The Mayor of Minot gave his annual proclamation for Giving Hearts Day on Monday.

“Now therefore, do I, Shaun Sipma, the Mayor of Minot, North Dakota, hereby proclaim February 10, 2022, as the Giving Hearts Day in Minot and call upon the public officials, businesses, community leaders, and all Minot residents to observe this day with appropriate activities and programs, recognize the charitable nonprofits, their staff and volunteers who provide the essential services to our communities, and support Giving Hearts Day by volunteering or providing financial support to the local charities in Minot and central North Dakota,” declared Mayor Shaun Sipma.

Tim Knutson, director of development at Dakota Hope Clinic said, “Each year each one of us have really been seeing an increase in donations over the years, and really it’s been increasing the last few years it feels like.”

Founded in 2008 by the Dakota Medical Foundation, this year Giving Hearts Day is set for Thursday, Feb. 10. The goal of Giving Hearts Day is to raise awareness of the charitable nonprofit sector throughout North Dakota and parts of Minnesota, and to promote online giving which donors can potentially multiple their donations.

This is opportunity for community members and those in the private sector to provide resources and assistance to charitable non-profit organizations, will help the continuity of vital services throughout the region to improve the quality of life for many in the community, as well as promote and encourage self-sufficiency within its members.

To check out local charitable nonprofits, Knutson pointed people to minotghd.com to donate or volunteer. For more information on Giving Hearts Day, visit givingheartsday.org.
